When somebody put it to firm to make it professionaly (photo-style of making PCB, holes for pins drilled by PC-controlled machine etc, it will not cost so much when you will do that in tens of pieces, and it is professional with preserved backside look. Hand-manufacturing is difficult and slow, but really cheap to make. Just mount it inside, plug connectors to females sides on the MB and thats it. If you really want to do this kind of kit, my idea about back of chassis is to preserve original and make some kind of backpanel. In fact it is not a big problem, just turn it, but it will not make a good look, I mean, seven card slots on the top doesnt look really professional.
When you want to use this LianLi MB tray, you have to turn it just by 180° and put it inside of G5 case to preserve mounting on backside, not on the removable doors, hehe. These backsides are good stuff, but I think you forgot for major "problem" of G5s contruction - reversed sides.
Well, as I said, I am not follower of this kit, anyway, I will try help as much as I can. So maybe I should just have it as a project to take apart, give me something to do.Hi bofors. So really isn't the most use there either. but again, outdated tech, can't run the latest software, can't run anything passed 10.5.8, etc. There really isn't much I can do with it aside from either donate it to someone who really needs a computer. I'm power conscious, so it's overkill for a torrent box, or a file server to be left on 24/7. I've got a functioning PC so the G5 wouldn't be doing any tasks. Maybe it would be a benefit just to have something I can slowly work on again? That's always fun.Īfter doing some reading on aforementioned links, there doesn't really seem to be much you can do with a Powermac G5 - this one is ATI based, so cant run MorphOS. the whole thing is empty aside from a mower and some boxes. Just moved to Canberra, funds are a bit tight for modding supplies, but I do have a huge shed here in the rental place that has a workbench and everything in it. Yep, that's pretty much what I'm thinking.
